Is help available from within the app?
+Yes, and there’s a copy of it to the right side of this page.
-
What is the maximum precision of a numerical value?
+Internally, Math Touch uses the traditional double floating point value, which gives about 16 decimal significant figures.
-
Why can’t Math Touch solve my system of equations?
+Math Touch uses a completely new computer algebra system that is not yet complete. That means it can only solve functions which directly calculate a variable OR can use a direct inverse function to solve for that variable. It can’t yet do polynomial root finding or use linear algebra. In addition, most vector functions delete information and can’t be solved in inverse. I suggest using equations which directly calculate a desired variable, or having only one unknown variable in each equation which can be solved for using only inverse functions. Most back-of-the-napkin calculations are in this form.

Are there more options for plots? like colors, multiple lines, or polar plots?
+Not in version 1.
-
My field uses a different convention for some of the units, can I use my conventions?
+Yes, Math Touch was designed from the ground up to allow users to modify units and create new ones. Check out the tutorial videos for instructions on modifying & creating units.
-
Do I need to manually link symbols with the same name in an equation?
+When you save the equation in the editor it automatically links variables with identical symbols, and pipes within the same equation remain invisible. You can link them manually if you like.

You don’t have one of the astronomical observations I want.
+You can add observations to bodies by selecting the body in the database to view its full list of properties, then tapping the Edit button, followed by the + key. Version 1 does not support reference frame transformations.
-
Why doesn’t Math Touch run in iPhone OS 3.1.3?
+Apple added support for apps to have special keyboards in iPhone OS 3.2. Math Touch’s special keyboards provide characters for superscripts, many unit symbols, and characters for controlling numerical precision.
